Magdalena Borejko

Praegu on tal poeke etsys. Mis ma temalt õppisin:
-Lase end inspireerida loodusest enesest (lilled, merihobud, kiilid... kõik võivad leida vormi traadi ja kivikeste abil
-Ka kõige tillukesemad asjad võivad olla keerulise ülesehitusega
-Tasakaalustades keerulise ripatsi suhteliselt lihtsa ketiga saab aidata viimasel rohkem esile tulla.

Esimene paar kõrvarõngaid polnud just kõige paremad!!!

2 On sul mõni lemmik ehe? Miks on see eriline?
"Raske on öelda, milline on lemmik...

Sattusin traadi lummusesse. Alguses on raske esitada enda stiili. Eni õpetustega saab õppida traaditööde lõputuid võimalusi. Eni on tõeliselt hea inimene - mitte ainult suurepärane kunstnik ja õpetaja vaid ka hea toetav sõber hetkedeks, mil tunned masendust. Jah.

"Ohjah! Absoluutselt KÕIK on inspireeriv! Sul on vaja avada oma... hing - jah hing! Kuulata muusikat, vaadata lilli, pilvede kuju, linde, enda ja teiste inimeste riiete mustreid :-) See maailm on ilus! Sinu "unistuste maailm".

5 Kuidas sa said Izaga tuttavaks?
"Me oleme mõlemad poolakad, me kohtusime interneti kaudu, kui ma kolisin Küprosele 3 aastat tagasi. Ehkki me oleme väga erinevad... mulle meeldib väga vaadata, mida ta loob järgmisel päeval, nädalal, aastal...

Ma soovin kõikidele inspiratsiooni ja rõõmu - see on edu võti!"

Magdalena Borejko is a jewelry artist who makes most stunning romantic pieces wrapping sterling silver or goldfilled wire with different gemstones and semiprecious stones. Born in Poland and now living in Cyprus she accentuates the importance of authentic materials used to create these masterpieces. I came across her work when I saw her corner of the shop at Ruby Lane (this shop is shut now). I read carefully all the introductions of every piece of jewelry and couldn't stop wondering - is this possible?! Now she has a shop in etsy. Things I learned from her:
- Let the nature inspire you (flowers, seahorses, dragonflies... they all can find a form in wire and stones!)
- The tiniest things can also be so detailed and complex
- Balancing complex pendants with quite simple chain helps pendant to stand out

I asked 5 questions from her and here are the questions and Magdalenas answers:

1 What was the first jewelry piece you made and how did it all started?
"All started in 2004. I have purchased my first pair of handcrafted earring at Polish auctions service... it wasn't anything out of this planet, but it gave me the idea that with my quite crafty hands and fascination to colors... all is possible. That time in my country supplies for beaders or wireworkers were very short. I have bought wire, bunch of glass beads and started to practise. First pair of earrings wasn't best! Hahaha one different than other. I remember my family lauging at me and shouting that there are pieces of wire all over the floor! Today my father is truly proud ;-)
I have also a great friend Terri Bienvenue - very intelligent person and great artisan! She helped me a lot! And I will be always thankful... I avoided many mistakes!"

2 Do you have a favourite piece(s)? Why is it/are they so special?
"It is hard to say which are my favorite... all depends on the weather and my mood :-) Today I will love a pair of chunky layered earrings, tomorrow just a pair of studs... must be a woman thing."

3 I would also like to ask you about the relationship between you and
Eni Okens work? What roll does it play in your creations and how did youdevelop her ideas to your own? And do you have some other artist whoinspire with their designs?
"Shortly after I have seen first pieces made by
Iza Malczyk I discovered Eni. I became a prisoner of wire. At the beginning it is hard to deliver your own style. With Eni's tutorials you will learn about endless possibilities of wire-working. Eni is truly nice person - not only a great artist and teacher but also a great supportive friend when you feel down. Yes. Be ready you will have "up and down" days as not every day is inspirational day! She took me through many levels and slowly I could see the change in my designs. I think I will visit her website untill end of my days :-)"

4 How do you get inspired and can you bring an example of howinspiration materialized?
"Oh my! Absolutely EVERYTHING is inspiring! You need just open your... soul - yes soul! Listen to the music, watch flowers, watch shapes of clouds, birds, patterns on yours and others clothes :-) This is a beautiful land! YOUR "dreamland". Sometimes when I am almost asleep I can storm off from bed and run to grab my journal to sketch something! Yes - unfortunetely most of ideas are comming to me in the middle of the night :-) I have heard a beautiful song today... and have made earrings :-)"

5 How do you and Iza became acquainted? In Izas
answers she told that you're a friend and you're from the same country?
"We are both Polish, but we have met online, as I moved to Cyprus 3 years ago. I am comming home to my roots in October for good and hope to meet Iza!
Our "relationship" wasn't easy at the beginning. It is a long story, but finally we became friendly souls :-) Iza is a great artisan that knows exactly what fascinates her and how to make her vision become real. Even we are very different... I love to look what will she come up with the next day, week, year...

I wish to all artisans to be always inspired and happy-this is the key to success!"

Thank you Magdalena for sharing your thoughts!!!

That's a great interview. I actually bought one of her pieces this week and am impatiently awaiting its arrival in my mailbox! It's a birthday gift from my husband, but I picked it out! :)

Katrin, I loved reading your interviews with Magda and Iza - I have been playing with wire for less than a year, I can only dream one day to be able to come up with creations as beautiful as theirs! They are a great inspiration!!

Thank you for your comment on my peridot earrings, they are one of my favourites at the moment!
