Angel with Flowers for the First Advent

Panin oma nime kirja isetegija.net foorumi projekti, mille järgi tuleb valmis saada igaks advendiks vastava arvu ingleid (esimesel üks, teisel kaks jne).

I signed my name for a project at isetegija.net, where participans will make angels for every Advent (one angel for the first, two for the second etc). I was puzzled over the idea of whatkind of angels to make, but I really wanted to participate. At first I thought I'll make 3D angels from beads, then I thought I'll use wirewrapping technique... But no matter what I thought I didn't like it. Then I wanted to draw, but drawing didn't fit into the handycraft project. Then I wanted to make the drawing into a piece of jewellery, but the only idea how to do this had so many disadvanages. Mainly that I didn't had the necessary materials and also I didn't even know what kind of materials I needed.

I had these stamped filligree settings for stones and I thought I could use them with my drawings. The drawing should be in the size of 13x18mm... You know, when I finished drawing (5 pcs for the start) I felt quite queasy. But these settings doesn't have backings, so the drawing should be strong enough not to break... Perhaps varnish will do... But whatkind of varnish? Only thing I had in hand was nail polish... :) When I started to insert the drawing I found out it didn't fit and so I needed to trim this little piece into smaller one, which was not easy... Then another problem ocurred - the prongs were too long and big that they would cover the quarter of my drawing. So I cut the most of them :) But problems weren't over. After I set the drawing I realized that pencil drawing and setting with antique finish created one grey and gloomy result. I tried to fix this with baby pink seedbeads. I can't evaluate the final result yet, I think I'll let some time pass, so I can forget all the trouble and see this brooch as just a piece of jewellery. But I think it is what I wanted - something practical with my drawing in it :)
