Siin on minu kingitus oma emale jõuludeks. Kivideks on 8mm suurused käsitsi lihvitud looduslik ametüst. Kividele õigeid pesasid leida oli päris raske. Mul olid sterling hõbedast ühed olemas (ups, polegi blogis selliseid esitlenud). Kuid need sobisid rohkem swarovski kividele, kuna katsid kivide taga oleva fooliumi ära. Nendele ametüstidele aga jäid need liiga robustseteks. Lõpuks leidsin kullaga täidetud Snap Tite kuue haruga kõrvarõnga pesad vastava suurusega kividele. Nende pesade idee on lihtne (kuus haru hoiavad kivi paigal), kuid ootamatult tekkis probleem ühe kiviga.
This is my Christmas gift for my mother. These are 8mm natural amethyst that are cut by hand. It was difficult to find suitable settings. I have some earring settings from sterling silver (oops, I somehow haven't presented none of those here...). These sterling silver settings were perfect for swarovski stones because they covered the back side of the stone so you can't see the foiling. But for amethysts these were too plain. Finally I found a pair of Snap Tite settings with six prongs. The idea of those is simple (six prongs hold the stone), but unexpectedly Igot into trouble with setting one stone. Since these stones are hand cut, they are bit different in shape and size and the edge of the stone was too thick at one side so the prong couldn'd reach to grab the stone. I was afraid I'll ruin it with my pliers, but fortunately everything ended well. The color of the stones is more intense and more purple (red) than on the pictures.
