Grey and Red Rhinestone Necklace in Vintage Style

This is the result of my work in progress. I think it is my first attempt to combine grey and red, can't really remember. This grey and red rhinestone necklace features a center motif with pearl cabochon in the middle and design spreading symmetrically glass pearls, beads and rhinestones. From the pendant hangs a big vintage glass pearl that has a bead cap adorned with rhinestones and pearls. Necklace has smaller plates that unite three beaded strands on both sides that will end in single strand to the clasp.

You can see the red pearls and old sew-on glass beads, with the smooth top red rhinestones. I'm still smitten about that baroque pearl drop! It's vintage and quite heavy and looking really spectacular - so bead cap with rhinestones and beads was not really in question! You can also see vintage red glass navettes and grey (Black Diamond) Swarovski baguettes - the thin rectangles on the pendant motif.

Historical Style Pearl Necklace with Montana Blue Brooch

Here's another older photo I found. This necklace was requested via Instagram after I posted a photo of it. It's actually a five row pearl necklace and a brooch. The thing is that only brooches with needle exactly in the middle can be used this way. Unintentionally I made this Montana blue brooch with centered pin needle and later tried it with pearl collar necklace.

So it's a clever item, this Historical style pearl necklace. The pearl strands are original vintage, made in Japan in 1940-50's, strung and knotted for jewelry industry. These strands have their original metal tips that show signs of age.

The Montana blue rhinestone brooch has most gorgeous Swarovski octagon crystal in the middle. In deep blue that has such a royal feel to it. Surrounded by rhinestones and vintage glass pearls, the brooch design is inspired by antique historical jewelry.

Pearl Bracelet with Vintage Rhinestones

This pearl bracelet with vintage rhinestones would be especially beautiful worn on a wedding day!

Creamy and light colored pearl bracelet is made from vintage rhinestones, new and old glass pearls and beads. Each metal plate has a square shaped Czechoslovakia rhinestone with four tiny glass stones, plates are connected with pearl links.

Note that the rhinestones are old and have a cloudiness due the aged foiling, therefore give a very subtle glow. Bracelet is 17,5cm (6 3/4 inches) long. Extender chain allows to add up to 3cm. If requested it is possible to make it shorter.

Vintage Style Hair Pin Parade

I practice a lot and every time I come up with a new design or color combination I make an example piece so I can see if it works with whatever I'm at. Not everything make it to bigger jewelry pieces so in time I'll gather a sum of motifs that start to pile up. My working table gets messy very quickly and so I need to find a place for them.

So does need a place any rhinestone or bead that is left on my table. Using them in whatever design I can come up with will add more motifs that need their place. The easiest way to use these odd motifs is in hair pins - no need of pairs like in earrings.

I grouped the hair pins by color: blue rhinestone hair pins, red rhinestone hair pins, assorted green pink purple and the rest went into assorted colors. All of the hair pins are possible to remake in similar design, so if there's something sold and you want to buy just let me know.

Sometimes it happens that the whole process starts to move backwards and the motif from leftover rhinestones and beads will trigger a new piece of jewelry.

I really liked the motif with clear vintage square rhinestone, cream pearls and ivory glass beads. And so I made a Pearl bracelet with vintage rhinestones. This motif design became one of my favorite one. It's so odd when things turn out this way :)

Historical Style Rhinestone Necklace Citrine

Because the rare Swarovski rhinestones I showed you in previous post made me think of historical citrine jewelry I took inspiration from old paintings and jewelry. I came up with this historical style rhinestone necklace and matching earrings. Each square shaped stone is framed with newer glass rhinestones.

There are ten plates that are attached with pearl links. The even number of plates allows to add a pendant, locket or a simple bow in the center of the necklace, so you can give it different looks. Historical style rhinestone earrings have oxidized sterling silver earhooks.

Vintage Rhinestones

Phew, the time really flies! I have so much to show you! First I just have to share the most gorgeous vintage rhinestones I bought. These were made by Swarovski and are still in original package with K. S & Co writings.

The faceting in square shape is crisp and sharp! The color is marked "Rauchtopas" for smoked topaz in German. But it doesn't look anything like color "Smoked topaz" Swarovski is producing today. These stones have the softest color more likely to be described as champagne or such. It reminds me of the citrine stones in antique jewelry.
