Work in Progress

Sharing some photos of work in progress. Planning a pair of Sparkly Rhinestone Earrings with Bermuda Blue (Cz) color. Super pretty color that shifts from dark blue with a hint of purple to bright light (lagoon) blue.

Work in Progress

Here are some photos of the work progress with dark red jewelry components. Usually the process starts with choosing the colors and materials and then moves on to trying out different motifs and how they work together. Here are the main motifs that will be combined into jewelry.

Emerald Green

Is it time to remember the winter? How the sparkle of green rhinestones were bringing the freshness of coming seasons? Sweet promise.

Inspired by the vintage and new jewelry components... Here we have vintage pressed jade glass stone, uranium glass leaf shaped button, vintage Austrian Swar. kite shaped crystals and other new and old glass rhinestones.

Work in Progress: Rhinestone Jewelry in Vintage Style

Here are pics about work in progress. This is a making of a necklace: Lucky Emerald Necklace. The name comes from that pointed hexagon stone that not only inspired this necklace but also restarted one that I had in mind over a year ago.

There are many steps before this piece of jewelry is finished. Each motif made one by one, assembled into a bigger motif, stringing the pearls etc.

Vintage Style Necklace In Making

Here are photos of the vintage style necklace coming together. I searched high and low for the right bow. Found one but it was only in one size. I needed two sizes to use with big and medium motif. So, I cut two bows in pieces and joined them together to create a bigger one :)

The big motif became a center pendant with extra rhinestones
and the bow I created from two bows.

Here you can see the difference of the bows.
Siin on pilte vintage stiilis kaelakee protsessist.

Special Custom Order: Vintage Style Necklace

Materials for a custom order. This will be a tribute necklace in style of historical recreation. The aim is to be something similar to the sapphire and diamond necklace of princess Eugenie of Greece and Denmark.

Ofcourse I'm not using sapphires or diamonds :) Client chose vintage lapis lazuli imitation glass cabochons and the "diamonds" will be vintage Swarovski rhinestones.

Vintage French Pearls get Sparkly Companions

Vintage French pearls get sparkly companions. Did you noticed how well copper matches with the pearls with red glass core?
I'm thinking of using some round flat transparent Czech beads. They have nice pattern although it doesn't show that well on photo. They look like candy :) Sparkly golden faceted beads will have the honorable task of glamming it up and deep red beads will add some color... and sparkly rhinestone spacers to catch light.

Baroque shaped vintage glass pearls with similar oval pearls.
Vintage glass pearls with copper wire - perfect match!
Transparent Czech glass beads have pressed pattern like candy.
Sparkly golden faceted beads and deep red glass beads
I'll be combining with the rest.

Soon Finished: Romance en Gris and Hollow Metallic Glass Beads

Beautiful find from one of my treasure hunts - vintage Swarovski rhinestone Romance en Gris - was truly inspiring. So I looked around my bead collection and found some pretty ones that matches perfectly!

Vintage (or even antique) hollow glass beads with silver lining have similar steel-like cold beauty as the rhinestones. The round steel-grey hollow beads are dyed and will get lighter and lighter in time as it wears off. Long-shaped beads have mesmerizing pattern - it's a fine art!

beads in hematite color.

And here are four Swarovski rhinestones in this
beautiful and rare color called Romance en Gris.

Piklikel helmestel on kaunis muster. Tegemist on peene kunstiga!

Planning

Valin materjale oma uue projekti jaoks. Eesmärk on teha ehe, mis stiililt oleks sarnane Assemblage ehetele. Esimese asjana on mõte kasutada mu kõige vanemaid pärleid.

I'm choosing materials for my new project. My goal is to make a piece of jewelry with the Assemblage style. My first thought was to use the oldest beads in my stash, glass pearls. I recently had the chance to buy similar pearls, only the size is bit bigger. Vendor told me these were from the 1920's. Since I used blueish and topaz colored beads in my previously made jewelry and there's always some leftovers on my table I decided to use similar colors.

Altered, Repurposed and Assemblage Jewelry

Pealkirjas nimetatud ehete stiil on üks ütlemata põnev asi. Nimelt pannakse vanadest ehetest kokku uusi kasutades erinevaid tehnikaid.

Alustasin uue projektiga. Eesmärgiks teha midagi, millel oleks antud stiilile iseloomulikke jooni.

Altered, Repurposed and Assemblage Jewelry as a style is really interesting. It means making jewelry with using old pieces of jewelry and an array of techniques. It's a bit like a collage. I don't know if I could do anything like this... If there's an old necklace with a beautiful motif I would want to restore it. And if there's nothing I want to restore then why would I want to use it... But the truth is that I don't have the resources of old jewelry so it may be that I just don't understand.
But I like that style. And therefore I look at it from a different point of view. So what is it that makes Assemblage jewelry so pretty to me and what if I could use the same tricks without using the old jewelry? The first thing I notice is that very often there are all sorts of different color metal used, different size rings and wires and beads that seems to be left overs. Also asymmetry in jewelry is often seen, mix of styles, found objects (photos, keys, watches, even a hand from a doll...), jewelry is often massive and layered... An array of materials (semi-precious, porcelain, glass, plastic, wood) used together, items are very busy and there's a lot to see.

I started a new project. My goal is to make something that resembels this style. But I'll make all the pieces myself. And I think I'll stick to the copper colored metal ;)

Four Angel Brooches

Neljanda advendi puhul tegin isetegija.net Advendiingli projekti raames neli ingliga prossi. Pildid on jällegi minu joonistatud. Hariliku pliiatsiga paberile ning paber mitu korda üle lakitud. Seekord panin kõik pildid antiik kuldsesse (vbl pigem messingu moodi) raami ning prossi nõelad liimisin taha. Lõpuks olen leidnud hea liimi selliste tööde jaoks. Kasutan sellist liimi, mis sain tänu janalillele FMGst. See on tõesti tugev ja täiesti läbipaistev.

On the fourth Advent I made for the isetegija.net project Advent Angels four brooches with angel pictures. I drew the pictures with pencil on paper and put many coats of lacquer. I put the picture in antique gold (or more like brass-looking) settings and glued the pin needle. Finally I have found a good glue for this kind of jobs. I use this glue that I got from FMG thanks to janalill. It is really strong and absolutely colorless.

Last one for Color Spectrum 2008

Seekordne projekt Värvispekter 2008 on nüüdseks minu jaoks läbi. Mina valisin viimase. Panen kõik pildid siia ritta :) Endalgi hea meenutada. Pildile klikates avaneb vastav blogipostitus (v.a detsembrikuu omal).

The Color Spectrum 2008 Project is now over for me. For the last month, december, there was a possibility to choose between two color pairs: green and red or gold and silver. I chose the last one. I'm going to put all the months works here :) Nice for me to see them all together :D When you click on the picture then a window with a blog post opens where you may read more and see more pictures (except for the December).
